Book presentation and Mini Fan Music concert

The publication provides a revealing insight into the work of concept and performance artist Jens Brand to date, which is characterized by an interdisciplinary and intermedial approach and makes use of a wide variety of formats and media.

Brand (*1968) lives and works in Cologne. His works have been shown internationally in exhibitions and at media and music festivals. The publication combines the classic form of the book with online formats.

On the occasion of the book launch of the catalog “BOOK” by Jens Brand, published by the Edith Russ Haus für Medienkunst at the renowned Kehrer Verlag, the piece Mini Fan Musik by Waldo Riedl and Jens Brand from 1992 will be performed – after a long silence and for the first time in this millennium and in Northern Germany.

The performance begins at 6 p.m. and involves a number of string instruments and pocket fans and lasts three hours. Mini Fan Musik is as much an installation as a concert; it takes place without a specially designed stage, turning the entire space into a mobile concert hall. The structure of the work makes it possible to leave earlier, come back later or even later still.

The book presentation will take place at 7 pm in the seminar room of the Edith Russ House for Media Art.
