The event begins with an artist talk with Mario Pfeifer from 6 pm. The book will be presented by the authors and the designer from 7 pm: Georg Imdahl, Nomaduma Masilela and Markus Weisbeck . The discussion will be moderated by the publisher Gaëtane Verna, director of The Power Plant, Toronto.
About the publication
This bilingual and internationally distributed release from Mousse Publishing follows Pfeifer’s first comprehensive solo exhibition in Canada / North America, which took place at The Power Plant, Toronto, from June 22 to September 2, 2019.
The exhibition was curated by the director Gaëtane Verna with the support of Nabila Abdel Nabi.
If you end up with the story you started with, then you’re not listening along the way contains essays by Georg Imdahl on the artist’s socio-political investigations and by Nomaduma Rosa Masilela on Pfeifer’s first live performance work. A conversation between Pfeifer and award-winning Canadian filmmaker Stan Douglas interweaves historical and contemporary themes of image production, music, pop culture and contemporary politics. The script of the film Again – Noch einmal (2018) is published together with an index of the works produced and publications 2008 – 2020 and completes the publication as Pfeifer’s most comprehensive monograph to date.
