?Fake, icon and virtuality are keywords that describe Kirsten Geisler’s approach to life in artificial worlds and the seductiveness of advertising and the media. It is also the theme of a practical workshop at the Edith Russ House for Media Art, which is being held in cooperation with the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg. Kirsten Geisler will introduce the workshop with a theoretical discourse on the ‘realm of media-generated illusions’ and then accompany the participants during the initial practical implementation of the respective projects. No special knowledge or experience in the use of computer animation hardware and software is required. Instead, an interdisciplinary approach is envisaged that allows freedom in the choice of materials and technical medium.
Participation in the workshop is free of charge. The Edith Russ House for Media Art will provide a limited number of apartments for the participants. For registration we expect a short curriculum vitae. The number of participants is limited to 12.
Registration deadline: February 25, 2002.
