More appearance than reality? Empty promises?
In Sven Johnes’ film “The Greatest Show on Earth”, an audience booster in the circus promises the blue sky and a breathtaking show. The backdrop and the words serve as metaphors for society’s desires and longing for the glitz and glamor of socialism in the GDR and also in today’s world. The workshop will include watching Sven Johnes’ film “The Greatest Show on Earth” and learning about the stop-motion animation technique, which can be used to bring drawings, photos, clay figures and many other things to life. Small groups will produce their own short animated films.
