Kirsten Geisler: “Fake – life in artificial worlds”

Fake,
icon and virtuality are keywords that describe Kirsten Geisler’s approach
to life in artificial worlds and the seductiveness of advertising
and the media. At the same time, it is the theme of a practical workshop at the Edith Russ House for Media Art, which is being held in cooperation with the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg. Kirsten Geisler will introduce the workshop with a theoretical discourse on the ‘realm of media-generated illusions’ and then accompany the participants during the first practical realizations of the respective projects . Special knowledge and experience in dealing with hardware and software for computer animation are not required. Rather,
an interdisciplinary way of working is envisaged, which allows freedom in the
choice of materials as well as the technical medium.

Participation in the workshop is free of charge. The Edith Russ House for Media Art
is providing a limited number of apartments for the

participants are available. We expect a short curriculum vitae for registration. The number of participants is limited to 12.

A public discussion with Kirsten Geisler and the workshop participants will take place on Friday, March 8, 2002 at 8 pm.
