THE LITTLE LONG NIGHT OF MUSIC
on June 15, 2019, from 7 p.m. in the Peterstraße in Oldenburg
The LONG NIGHT OF MUSIC has taken place every June since 2013 as a major joint event for the network partners associated with klangpol. On one evening, the various partners present their ensembles and the artists active there in numerous short concerts, installations and performances. With free admission, the current art music scene in the northwest can be experienced in a concentrated form, in all its richness and enormous diversity.
The Edith-Russ-Haus is once again part of the central project of the klangpol network this year. The following events will take place as part of the LONG NIGHT OF MUSIC:
Thomas Bisitz: Interaction 2019
In the seminar room, 7 p.m. to midnight
Interactive audiovisual installation
The interactive audiovisual installation in the seminar room of the Edith-Russ-Haus challenges encounters and invites visitors to experiment: Several visitors can simultaneously create, change and control sounds and light with the installation. The room is filled acoustically and visually.
This means that everyone in the room is always connected and interacting with both the technology and other visitors. “You can’t not interact.”
Depending on the number of people and the type of interaction, the system reacts differently and generates various interactions. The movements and position of the hands are recorded by the system without contact. In this way, the visitors create a form of improvised, experimental music through joint contact.
Thomas Bisitz is a physicist and sound artist who moves between the worlds of scientific research to help people hear better and artistic works revolving around sound. In addition to sound installations, he works actively with live electronics and primarily improvised music, develops movement-controlled musical instruments and creates transformative spaces in dance events. The aspect of encounter, the multidimensionality of artistic expression and experimentation with a variety of sounds always play an important role for him.
A cooperation with the Haus des Hörens, HörTech gGmbH.
Sonic pony farm
On the lawn in front of the Edith-Russ-Haus, 7 p.m. to midnight
A performative art and sound environment.
In this project, students, graduates and lecturers from the Frank Mohr Institute in Groningen, the Netherlands, work together to express their conviction that, despite everything, life *is* a pony farm. The grass field in front of the Edith Russ House will be transformed into an experimental playground where the participants will combine art, sound, light and performance. Elements include a high-voltage drummer, interactive sound installations, a travel agency and – indeed – a pony.
The Master’s program MADtech (part of the Academy Minerva Groningen) combines art and technology in two years of interdisciplinary artistic research.
