Night of the Museums with Karolina Breguła

21. September 2024, 09:00 - 21:55

On Saturday, September 21, 2024, from 6 p.m. to midnight, Oldenburg’s museums and art galleries are once again inviting visitors to the Night of the Museums.

The Haus für Medienkunst is hosting the exhibition Karolina Breguła: The Waves Are Rumbling So Loud and in the Pulverturm the exhibition Tenzin Phuntsog: Gyatso (Oceans).

Karolina Breguła will be present in person and offer two program points:

7.30 pm: Guided tour with Karolina Breguła and Jan Blum

The artist Karolina Breguła is a storyteller. Her stories are the result of intensive research and collective processes. She deals in depth with questions of architecture, social shifts and urban spaces in their impact on communities. In this exhibition, everything revolves around the state of the oceans in the midst of the climate crisis. The artist brings together experiences and reflections on this elementary phenomenon.

In tandem with Jan Blum from the Education & Outreach team at the House of Media Art, she will guide you through her exhibition The Waves Are Rumbling So Loud. Afterwards, you will have the opportunity to talk to the artist in the Agora, a meeting place in the exhibition.

The tour is available in English and German.

9 pm: Who’s There? – Film screening with Karolina Breguła

Karolina Breguła presents two episodes of her film series Who’s There? (2016, 11 minutes per episode). She will then talk about her artistic practice of implementing participatory projects with groups. The talk will be held in English.

Who’s There? is a participatory film series created in collaboration with the residents of an area in the Ołbin district of Wrocław. Each episode was written, filmed and edited in less than three days. The screenings took place every Wednesday and Saturday in a nearby open-air cinema set up on a hill in the courtyard. In the following episodes, we follow the residents as they uncover the story of a monster roaming the neighborhood and devouring keys.
