“Our daily bread”

10. January 2008, 19:00

Film presentation

Without commentary, Nikolaus Geyerhalter’s film provides an insight into the places where our daily bread is produced – functional buildings and functionalized landscapes. Machines, people, animals and plants appear to be completely subject to the logistics of this system, as cogs in the wheels of the food industry. However, Geyrhalter does not attempt to uncover any scandals in “Our Daily Bread”. Rather, as he says himself, he wants to “collect images of this industry, this working world, as objectively as possible and make them perceptible”. The viewer may well perceive the production machinery of the food industry as a scandal, but, according to the filmmaker, the scandal is also that of our way of life.
