Film presentation

The Decay of Fiction is a film about the legendary Ambassador Hotel in Hollywood, a building that is now dilapidated, morbid and doomed to demolition. Pat O’Neill has gone inside, walked through the once magnificent foyer, the huge restaurant, the bar behind it, finally the casino and the rooms up to the luxury suite. The walls are cracked and peeling, the lawn is brown and mold is growing on the damp carpets of the Coconut Grove. The swimming pool is empty and the ballroom where Bobby Kennedy died is shuttered and the shutters are closed. This ruin carries a great burden of memories, which the filmmaker brings back to life in a cross between reality and hallucination.
