Digging for social, cultural and ecological aspects of the sound environment
This workshop will focus on different aspects of sound – how we hear and understand it. Given the dominance of the image in the mediatized world, we will instead look at how sound has evolved in parallel with visual media, defining itself outside of its normal ‘merely supportive’ function.
“We will explore radio pieces, soundscapes, sample culture and synthetic generation and see what a powerful, evocative factor sound can be. The workshop will begin with a short lecture and discussion. Participants should bring an idea for a small sound project they would like to produce.”
