“Representation through artistic-aesthetic strategies” or activists use artists, artists use activists, companies use art houses, art houses use everyone.

“Representation through artistic-aesthetic strategies” or activists use artists, artists use activists, companies use art houses, art houses use everyone. The all-day symposium invites artists and activists to show videos, give talks and stimulate a lively discussion about the use of aesthetic strategies in areas outside and inside the arts.

Rosanne Altstatt (Director, Edith Russ House for Media Art) will place the symposium in the context of the exhibition. Antek Walczak, member of ‘Bernadette Corporation’ (USA) will show the group’s new video about their participation in the anti-globalization demonstration in Genoa and put it up for discussion. Stephan Dillemuth (artist and author “The Academy and the Corporate Public”, Hamburg) asks whether artistic research could be an alternative form of critique outside of strategies of representation. Marion von Osten (artist, author and research associate at the Institute for Theory of Design and Art, Zurich) will give a lecture with video material on artists and the topic of “Creative Industry”.
