The Monks are without doubt one of the most important and innovative pop groups of the 60s. Hardly any other band from this era can claim to have pioneered as many epochal pop genres as these five former GIs living in Germany. In the documentary “Monks – The Transatlantic Feedback” by Dietmar Post and Lucia Palacios, a forgotten piece of recent German-American pop history is traced in great detail. The film closes a gap by presenting the first avant-garde band in pop history, which has fallen into oblivion.
