Hannes Wurster, head of the art subject seminar at the GHRS Oldenburg, has looked into so-called cell phone violence. Often referred to as “happy slapping”, the phenomenon stands for the interlocking of violence and media. Thanks to the integrated video recording function, cell phones have become everyday documentation media and thus play a problematic role in situations of physical (including sexual) violence and exclusion, and not just among young people.
Hannes Wurster presents material on this topic and possible countermeasures and discusses the promotion of media literacy in this context.
