{"id":7757,"date":"2025-11-16T15:44:06","date_gmt":"2025-11-16T14:44:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/edi-typ-24154.stage.sites.vh3-schrittweiter.de\/veranstaltungen\/ho-tzu-nyen-some-notes-on-the-critical-dictionary-of-southeast-asia\/"},"modified":"2025-11-26T15:44:53","modified_gmt":"2025-11-26T14:44:53","slug":"ho-tzu-nyen-some-notes-on-the-critical-dictionary-of-southeast-asia","status":"publish","type":"event","link":"https:\/\/edi-typ-24154.stage.sites.vh3-schrittweiter.de\/en\/events\/ho-tzu-nyen-some-notes-on-the-critical-dictionary-of-southeast-asia\/","title":{"rendered":"Ho Tzu Nyen &#8211; Some Notes on The Critical Dictionary of Southeast Asia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Dynamic Archive &#8211; Ho Tzu Nyen<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On July 04, 2019 at 6 pm<\/p>\n<p>Auditorium University of the Arts, Am Speicher XI 8, 28217 Bremen<\/p>\n<p>In English language<\/p>\n<p>In his lecture, artist Ho Tzu Nyen will talk about the <em>Critical Dictionary of Southeast Asia <\/em>and the projects it has led to, including <em>The Nameless <\/em>and <em>One or Several Tigers<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Akin to a living organism, <em>The Critical Dictionary of Southeast Asia (CDOSEA) <\/em>is part of an ongoing project that is growing and providing critical insight into the pluralistic definitions of Southeast Asia under the current nomenklatura.<\/p>\n<p>The term Southeast Asia is ambiguous and unclear, the area is not united by language, religion or political power. <em>CDOSEA <\/em>uses an algorithmic system to generate an &#8220;endless series of possible Southeast Asias&#8221; that form a territorially disjointed yet terminologically connected tapestry. <\/p>\n<p>It represents a research platform and matrix for generating future projects. <em>CDOSEA <\/em>is fed by the algorithm &#8220;Ab\u00e9c\u00e9dair&#8221;, which runs in a continuous loop. This consists of video material, redirected from online sources, and is reassembled in endless algorithmic variations.
